
Dr. Oluwatosin Smith
Dr. Oluwatosin Smith, MD, is a Nigerian-born, world-renowned glaucoma specialist practicing at Glaucoma Associates of Texas in Dallas. Alongside her colleagues, she remains at the forefront of cutting-edge glaucoma management. Her clinical, surgical, and research interests span the full spectrum of glaucoma care, with a particular focus on the surgical management of childhood glaucoma.
Dr. Smith serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Her passion for teaching has taken her across the globe, where she contributes through professional engagements at national and international academic meetings, as well as through her work with the Cure Glaucoma Foundation. She is actively involved in clinical research as both a primary and sub-investigator and serves as a medical monitor for Glaukos.
A respected leader in her field, Dr. Smith serves on numerous boards, including as an Ambassador for the Glaucoma Research Foundation, and as a board member for the Cure Glaucoma Foundation, Glaucoma research foundation and Trinity Valley School. She previously served on the board of the American Glaucoma Society and is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, International Society of Spaeth fellows and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, where she participates in the Glaucoma Clinical Committee. In addition, she serves on advisory boards for several companies through her consulting firm, contributes to editorial boards of academic journals, and is recognized as a key opinion leader in the glaucoma community.
Her contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including a nomination for Outstanding Female Leader in Ophthalmology, the Achievement award from the American Academy of Ophthslmology, the Humanitarian Award from the American Glaucoma Society, and the 2026 Presidential Award from the Glaucoma Research Foundation. Dr. Smith is deeply committed to global outreach and education, traveling worldwide to train surgeons and build collaborative bridges that advance glaucoma care.
Locally, within the Dallas–Fort Worth area, she serves both in private practice and as a volunteer physician at the Child Vision Center in Fort Worth, Texas, where she has performed thousands of dollars’ worth of free surgeries for children with glaucoma.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Smith is passionate about mentorship and empowering others. From a vision birth in 2020, She founded Not Just Brunch to create a supportive community where women can grow independently while supporting one another. She believes that no one should be left behind simply due to lack of access or guidance.
Having lived in five countries growing up, Dr. Smith embraces cultural diversity and has developed a deep appreciation for people from all backgrounds. She believes that, despite differences, we all share common hopes for ourselves and our families.
In her personal life, she cherishes time with her husband, two children, and extended family. She has a deep faith in God, loves singing, and enjoys traveling.
